Capturing Pokémon
A trainer may try to catch a Pokémon anytime during the battle but like the games, the rate of success is influenced by the health of the defending Pokémon. Different types of Pokéball may also improve the success rate.
New Player Protection
If a Pokémon is fainted by a trainer who has not received their first Gym Badge, the Pokémon can still be caught and usually, there is a 100% chance of capture.
However, once the first Gym Badge is obtained, this safeguard no longer exists and fainted Pokémon cannot be caught, but will be carried away by the Pokémon's comrades to rest.
Trainers are expected to make judgments based on the wild Pokémon's health bar, as it is a noticeable feature of the games.
Returning to an area
At anytime in your journey, you can return to a previous area for training or to catch Pokémon you may have missed the first time. For example you might be in Violet City and want to return to Cherrygrove for extra training before battling the Gym Leader. You must close your thread in Violet (modify your thread to include '[D]') and start a thread in Cherrygrove. Once you are done training, close off the thread in Cherrygrove and you may start from where you left off. In this case you can begin a new thread in Violet to battle Falkner.
Higher Level Pokémon
You may use high level Pokémon against wild Pokémon. However, high-level Pokémon obtained through trade are subject to restrictions. These Pokémon will not obey you unless you have the right badge to guarantee their loyalty
Running from a battle
You may not run away from NPC character challengers.
You may only run from a wild Pokémon if:
1. Your Pokémon are at low health and it is obvious that you will lose the battle.
2. A Pokémon in your party is more than 10 levels higher than the wild Pokémon.
3. You have not already run from 2 Pokémon consecutively (to prevent the forcing out of rare Pokémon).
Pokémon Center
Visits to the Pokémon Center are unecessary. Between battles, your Pokémon are healed automatically and all status effects are all eliminated. However, in some areas (usually sub-boards), your Pokémon will need to be healed in between battles with Potions, etc but once you leave, your Pokémon are restored to full health.
Note: Potions can be used simultaneously with any move during a turn. In the games, when you use a Potion, it counts as a turn. To make Potions more useful you can heal your Pokemon and attack at the same time.
Pokémon Radar
When a player’s thread reaches 5 pages in length, the player can choose which Pokémon he/she runs into (this excludes Rare, Ultra Rare and Shiny forms of Pokémon). It is assumed that once a player has been in the area for a certain amount of time, they would be able to seek out the Pokémon they want. This is useful if you want to chain the same Pokémon in order to get its shiny form.
Once your thread has reached 5 pages in length, you may finish your current battle and request any Common/Uncommon Pokémon native to the area. Weave it into you roleplay as naturally as possible: “Terrance had been in Route 29 for 6 hours now and was carefully watching a flock of Starly. Quietly, he crept along the grass and sent out his Ivysaur to attack one of them.”
